Topkapi Palace & Harem Museum

This Museum was once the residence of the legendary Ottoman Sultans which was later converted to a Museum, it has several exquisite exhibitions halls devoted to Holy Relics. The Imperial Harem section is also included in the tour.

Bascilica Cistern

This impressive Cistern was built to supply water for the Great Palace and nearby buildings by Justinian after 532. It was lost to memory but rediscovered in the mid sixteenth century by Petrus Gylius, he was sent to Constantinople by King Francis I to search for Byzantine Monuments and Manuscripts, Gylius noticed that the local people were lowering buckets through holes in the floors of their houses to retrieve water, he then found an entrance to this Mysterious and subterranean architectural wonder and put it back on the map, it is around 10,000 square meters of space supported by 336 Marble Columns nine meters in height.

Hagia Sophia Museum

The Hagia Sophia was the most important Christian church of Constantinople, its design was the first of its kind boasting the largest dome with a voluminous and well illuminated interior, and the materials were commissioned by Emperor Justinian I and bought in from all over the world, After Constantinople’s downfall to the Ottomans the Hagia Sophia was converted to a Mosque. Later during the reign of Kemel Ataturk the Turkish republics founding father and first prime minister the Hagia Sophia was transformed into a Museum first opening its doors in February 1935.

Sultanhamet Mosque/Blue Mosque

Located in the district of the Old Istanbul the Blue Mosque is distinguished by its six minarets, the Mosque was built by Sultan Ahmet between 1609 and 1616. The name Blue Mosque arose from the intricately decorated blue green and red tiles which were produced and painted by hand in Iznik (Ancient Nicaea). There are various Quranic inscriptions throughout the Mosque made by the famous Calligrapher Seyyid Kasim Gubari.

Roman Hippodrome and Monuments

The Ancient Hippodrome is located in the square that is now in front of the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome was the center of the Byzantine’s social life where fierce completive charity races took place. The site boast other Relics from the glory days as the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Bronze Serpentine column and the Column of Constantine.
